Ladies and Gentlemen... Rachel Fine

Hi. I’m Rachel Fine. Yes, it’s my real name. Yes, it’s the real spelling. And fun as it is now, it was a bitch as a kid. Ask anyone who has a last name that means something. I got a lot of “what’s your middle name...IS?!?” And the less fun “what’s your middle name…ISNT?!?” And the more creative “what’s your middle name…PAYS AN OVERDUE LIBRARY?!?” Sit with that one a minute. You’ll get it.
But now, whatevs. I’ve learned to dig it. And in no small part because it rhymes with Hein, the glamorous half of Team Fine & Hein. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, we’re co-hosting The Bonus Show, if I may be so bold, a top Telly contender airing now on Howard TV.
Working in the Stern studios is the coolest thing that can happen to a chick. But it’s also odd. For instance, I’ve been friends with Richard Christy and his fiance for a while. We’ve been to dinner, movies, karaoke. But it wasn’t until my first day working at The Bonus Show that I saw his penis. And I guess you don’t really know a man ‘til you see his weiner. I watched the pilot episode clip of Richard & Sal doing Cock Rock like I watch a horror movie (which, in a weird way, I think Richard will appreciate), covering my face and peeking through my fingers. Jon swears I’ll get desensitized over time. I don’t know. I’ll keep you posted.
I’ve been a fan of Howard’s since the Philly Zookeeper war. And I always got the feeling that for as much awesomeness that made it to air, there must be an equal or greater amount of awesomeness left behind the scenes. Simple physics. You know the dead or alive, who would you invite to dinner game? Here’s mine: put an unscripted and uncensored Beetlejuice, Gilbert, Hank the Dwarf and Artie around a table and tell me it’s not going to be entertaining. What makes the Stern show so addictive is the collection of dysfunction that comes together to create a family. Now we’re putting that backstage insanity at the forefront on The Bonus Show. As a fan, and now a host, I could not possibly be more excited. Seriously. I’m geeking out.
I’m gonna do this whole blogging thing every week because the stuff that goes down behind the scenes- I have GOT to tell someone. Hope you’ll listen.
Nice to meet you guys.
Rachel
